Louise and Mark's Wedding at Doxford Barns, Northumberland

Doxford Barns in Northumberland have cottages on-site for guests and family to stay for the weekend, making it easy to find everyone and capture some photos of the getting ready stage at the start of the day.

Mark and Louise tied many of their favourite things into the wedding day, so it was multi-themed, with their love for dogs and their own dogs making an appearance with matching dyed leads.

The wedding was in a barn and on a farm but the tablescapes were coastal and the decor symbolised the sea and love of the surf. Apart from that, most things sourced were local; from the ice cream cart with Doddington Dairy produce to the flowers and even the bouncy castle.

Lynley and Adam's Wedding in Benagil Sea Cave, Portugal

Hands down, the most fun wedding to photograph ever.

Also, we were the only other people there. And it was in the Algarve!

The photographs document the story of Adam and Lynley’s day from start to finish. (I’m so glad I wore a dress rather than trousers as we didn’t realise until we arrived that we had to wade through the water to get into the boat to travel to Benagil cave, it’s not accessible by land)

Reception took place at the stunning No Solo Agua beach club, Portimao.

Take me back!

Maria and Euan's Military Wedding at St Margaret's Chapel, Edinburgh Castle

I must say, I do love a military wedding - those uniforms are soo smart!

It was a tricky start for me in Edinburgh, trying to find a parking space in the city centre on a Saturday afternoon (I ended up somewhere along the bottom of the Grassmarket)! I ran up the Royal Mile with my camera gear, dodging tourists all the way.

St Margaret’s Chapel is super tiny but so pretty. It was rather windy outside at the top of the castle and the views are stunning. Back at the barracks, there was so much space and the weather was so calm! The decor inside was traditional but beautiful and they had hired dodgems for outside as well as a full casino set up for the guests before a lively ceilidh toward the end of the night.

Tim and Jodie Married in Rothbury, Northumberland and celebrated in Gavinton, Scottish Borders.

Happy 5th Anniversary to Tim and Jodie! This wedding was just stunning, the weather started out beautifully at the church but when we got to Gavinton the heavens opened! Crazy amounts of rain waterlogged the field, so much mud that all the guests had to be transported in tractors and 4x4s to the marquee! You would never have been able to tell though, it didn’t ‘dampen the spirit’ at all.

Coldstream Marriage Room Elopement Wedding Photography

David, Alex, Reuben and his teddy came to Coldstream Marriage Room for their ceremony, its a really nice registry office and Coldstream is a charming wee town. When David first got in touch with me he had a lot of questions and I managed to help him find a good local florist and somewhere for afternoon tea for the three of them for after the ceremony (which was the Collingwood Arms, nice and near and a lovely easy to find place too). After the wedding they headed off up into Scotland for a tour around and a bit of a holiday, what a lovely way to start your honeymoon.

The First Couple of the Season to be Married at Lindisfarne Castle for 2019!

“On behalf of Jill and myself I’d like to thank you for all your hard work on Monday. You did a great job despite the wind and cold. Many thanks, Tony and Jill.”

Tony and Jill had their wedding ceremony at Lindisfarne Castle followed by a family reception at the Manor House Hotel on Holy Island. There were only about 12 guests (including a newborn baby) but all guests were family, which made the day feel very intimate and special to them.

It was absolutely freezing and very windy but Holy Island always looks stunning.

A October unicorn themed wedding at Marshall Meadows, sneaky peek from Saturday

On Saturday I photographed Ana and Jonathan’s unicorn-themed wedding at Marshall Meadows, the wedding was unique not only because of the theme but also because everything was translated into Spanish to make Ana’s side of the family feel truly at home and welcome, from the vows to the speeches and even to the signs for the damas y caballeros!

The wedding ceremony wasn’t until 5pm which is quite late for light in October, we were very lucky with clear skies and looking out over the farm in the background were even blessed with a bit of a unicorn sky, how cute!

Their dog Banjo came along for his own photoshoot looking rather superb in a new bow tie..

This has been one of the most fun weddings I’ve seen even though I missed the ‘sumo costumed fight, first dance’! The cake was pretty amazing and hilarious too.

Jonathan hired loads of trees from Cheviot Trees in Foulden to decorate the hall, it looked quite spectacular and he did the decor all by himself.

A Wedding by the Beach with a Quick Visit to the Fair

It was a stunning wedding day in Spittal for the new Mr and Mrs Bothwick, there are so many locations in Spittal for photos, the beach is beautiful with a view of Berwick or the North Sea and there is an amusement arcade which I don’t think has changed since the 60’s, there are pretty gardens and this 1930’s shelter is right next to the seaside too. When we arrived at the reception venue we realised that the fairground was in town and right next to us, luckily the noise was turned down for the speeches and they let us have a quick shot on the waltzers!

Cherrytrees Kelso, Wedding Photography in June for Chloe and Martyn

A few weeks ago, I posted a pre-wedding shoot on the beach with this lovely family. The day of their Cherrytrees wedding in Kelso came around so quickly and it was just beautiful! It's the first time I've shot a wedding there, and I loved it.

I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Chloe and Martyn thought about every little detail and it really shows… so enjoy!

Chloe and Martyn's Engagement / Pre Wedding Shoot

PICTORIAL_BERWICK_pre-wedding-family-couple-shoot-beach-coldingham-bay-birthday-dogs-grandparents-0535.jpg

I have been photographing Chloe, Martyn, and their 2 children for the last 5 years (starting with a lovely black and white maternity session if I recall correctly) so when they asked me to photograph their wedding I almost squealed with excitement - Chloe has the most amazing taste and the venue they have chosen together looks utterly gorgeous. https://www.cherrytrees-kelso.co.uk/

I thought this would be a good session to blog about as it is quite 'typical' now for a pre wedding session to include the couples children and pets, including children allows them to get used to my being there and photographing them with a big camera ahead of the wedding day which means they wont find my unobtrusive approach at all unusual or unfamiliar at the wedding, making the big day much more relaxed for everyone involved.

Today was also a special birthday for someone! The balloons were a great idea until...

Ooops!  Well we did still manage to turn things around and get some lovely family shots on the beach..

We then left the kids with granny and grandpa and headed off, out of sight for a few couple photos in preparation of the big day!  I always think it is a good idea to book a session like this before a wedding, alongside creating a beautiful set of portraits to mark your engagement I can show you both how to look your very best together, Ill pose you in a way that looks as natural as possible.

Here we are on the way home minus a bunch of balloons but plus 2 penny floater balls, compliments of Granny and Grandpa who kindly came along to help with the Daphne the dog and also to give us some time without the children to practice the couple photography!
